Description
This DVD on Dingo trapping is a bit unusual for us as it’s not about practical trapping methods in the UK – however it is very interesting. One of our customers in Australia, Chris Thomas, has produced a DVD on Dingo Trapping so we’ve agreed to give it a whirl in the UK.
Chris shows how the traps used in Australia have moved on from the original British colonial traps of the 1800s to using sophisticated modern traps from the USA.
Chris demonstrates a number of sets used to trap dingos in the Queensland, Australia where predatory they are a threat the livestock. Here at Fourteenacre we’re not big fans of foothold traps and of course they are illegal to use in the UK. However in the huge expanses of Australia they can’t afford to be so picky and footholds are a practical choice for large predators like the wild dogs. Talking to Chris he confirmed that even in Australian they have to check them daily.
This DVD is an interesting insight into how others trap which is always worth finding out about. It’s fascinating to see how trapping methods have adapted in the vast open spaces of South east Australia.
The trapping footage is supplemented with trailcam footage of Australian wildlife.
Samples of this DVD can be seen on Chris’ YOUTube page QLD Trapping on YouTUBE.
